Province Wide Enhanced 9-1-1 Service (E9-1-1)

Province Wide Enhanced 9-1-1 Service (E9-1-1) is available on an optional basis by municipality and provides customers in participating municipalities with universal 9-1-1 three digit dial access for emergency services. E9-1-1 is not available on an individual subscription basis. The service provides for the transport of the 9-1-1 call from a municipality subscribing to E9-1-1 service to the appropriate Public Safety Answer Point (PSAP).

Bell MTS provides the network and information database for E9-1-1. This includes the technology required to route a 9-1-1 call to the correct PSAP with information about the caller.

E9-1-1 service provides the name, address, telephone number, and the specific Emergency Response Agencies (Fire, Police and Ambulance) of the caller to the emergency dispatcher. The dispatcher can then dispatch the call to the appropriate Emergency Response Agency (ERA).

E9-1-1 service is offered throughout the province on a municipality basis (including Rural Municipalities, Urban Municipalities, Local Government Districts, First Nation Communities, etc.). When a municipality has agreed to subscribe to the E9-1-1 service all citizens within that municipality's boundaries will obtain the service. The service is accessible by all exchange services equipped for outward dialing to the Public Switched Telephone Network.

Customers interested in E9-1-1 service should contact their local municipal office.

For information about dialling 9-1-1 from your mobile device visit Wireless Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1).

Costs

When a municipality has agreed to subscribe to 9-1-1 service, a monthly rate of $0.23 per line applies to all exchange services equipped for outward dialing to the Public Switched Telephone Network.

As of March 1, 2022, this rate now includes expanded next-generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) services.
